1. Patience is important
Do not disperse the things you can not control. Life is very angry and irritating at all times. Did you miss your bus? Do not worry, there will be another one. ATMs without money? Great! Take an unpredictable road trip to the next town and explore. Sometimes freakouts can happen regardless.
2. Wake up early
Raise during sunrise to have all the best attractions you have when avoiding groups. It’s a magical time for photos because of the soft bright light, and is usually easier to interact with the locals. In the Sketch areas are very dangerous morning. Honest hard-working people wake up early; sleep in touts, scammers, and criminals.
3. Laugh at you
You will definitely look like a fool when you go to new places. Look at yourself and smile, rather than get embarrassed. Do not need widely all over the world, so it’s easier to communicate than you might think to panic up and take life seriously. The entire bus filled with Guatemala was laughed at once, and I was forced to stop our driver, so I immediately hit the road.
4. Free cash is frozen
Cash is the kingdom around the world. Make sure to cover your donkey in an emergency situation, in some different places. I would recommend at least two hundred dollars. If you lose your wallet, your card will stop working or the ATMs are out of money and you’ll be happy.
5. Meet local people
Make it a point to avoid other passengers from time to time and start conversations with local people. The basic English is widely spoken around the world, so it’s easier to communicate than you think, especially when you connect hand gestures and body language.
6. A scarf pack
I use Shemag, but Sargong also works great. This simple piece of cotton cloth is one of my most useful travel tools with many different practical applications. It is sun protection, temporary towel, carrying objects around, eye mask and much more.
7. Notice Daily Life
If you really want to get a feel for the pulse of space, sit in the park for a few hours, sit in your busy street and watch your daily life.Slow your train thinking and pay close attention to your surrounding details. Odors, colors, human interactions, and sounds. It’s a kind of meditation.
8. Back up everything
When my laptop computer was stolen in Panama, my donkey saved all my important documents and photos. Keep both your passport, visas, driver’s license, birth certificate, health insurance card, serial numbers, and both digital and physical copies of important phone numbers ready to go into emergency situations.
9. Lots of photos
You can only see these places and make these people live once in your lifetime. Remember them forever with photos. Do not worry about a “tourism” model. Are you going to look cool? No one cares. The ultimate souvenir of great photos.
10. There is always a way out
There is nothing impossible. Do not give up if you are struggling to go somewhere or do something. You did not find the best solution or even met the right person. Do not listen to those who say it is not done.
